About Us
Larry Morris is a role model’s role model, especially for those who understand that leadership requires living what you teach. For more than five decades, Larry has done exactly that. He is a community activist, mentor, coach, father, grandfather, and a trusted voice for people who are often unheard. He has not simply spoken about discipline, responsibility, and compassion. He has practiced them every day of his life.
Throughout his career, Larry has consistently mentored, taught, coached, inspired, disciplined, and encouraged young people to live up to their full potential. His approach is rooted in compassion, guided by high expectations, and strengthened by a determined heart and focused vision. He believes that young people rise when they are challenged, supported, and held accountable by adults who truly care.
Larry expects the youth he encounters to succeed, and his life’s work proves that vision and expectation can do more than make a difference. They can save lives and change them. His work is grounded in the belief that transformation begins with consistency, integrity, and love in action.
Known for creating thoughtful and challenging dialogue, Larry brings clarity to complex issues affecting youth, families, and communities. He developed what many now recognize as the “Larry Morris approach”, a practical framework that helps young people and those who serve them grow through Learning, Attitude, Responsibility, Recognition, and You. This approach has guided countless individuals toward personal accountability and long-term success.
Larry firmly believes that America is strongest when the richness of its cultural diversity is embraced, supported, and celebrated. He also believes it is the responsibility of all parts of society to address the gaps that have caused many children to lose access to values that nurture growth, stability, and success.
As a community activist and leader, Larry Morris has earned deep respect through tangible action. He played a pivotal role in transforming a once-vacant building in a high-crime, drug-impacted neighborhood into a safe, encouraging space for children. He revitalized the Wilmington NAACP, serving two terms as President, and later served with distinction as Director of Community Services for a United States Congressman and for the Governor of Delaware.
Although Larry received formal education at Goldey-Beacom College, Lincoln University, and the University of Delaware, he often says that his most meaningful education came from decades of direct service to inner-city youth, families, and communities. His experience spans more than fifty years of hands-on work with young people at risk, and with families striving for stability, dignity, and opportunity.
